As a result, I have continued to pay the $70 annual subscription while only using the app a handful of times each year. I’ve tried migrating to OneNote, Notion, Mem, and others, but no migration path has ever really worked well enough for me to commit to the new ecosystem. I’ve been watching Evernote stagnate and become less useful to me for many years, and based on anecdotes from many friends, a lot of people are in a similar state. My annual Evernote subscription is expiring next month, and I received an email saying that the annual subscription fee will increase from $69.99 to $129.99. enex notebook exports as Markdown, and has a lot of the same organization structure as Evernote–looks great for getting on something open source and multi-platform!

Just the brand colors and the simplified Markdown logo. The left one is more traditional, with a page curl and the Markdown Logo on it. These are the two version you can see in the shot. Next I thought if a more traditional icon or a modern icon is the best.

They are bright and good to see in the Finder. With this goal I came up to use the app icon colors. So I thought it would be great to have an icon that you can fast recognize, even if its just 16x16 pixels big. The current icon is pretty basic and unrecognizable. So the most noticed thing is the document icon. As I recently redesigned the preferences icons for MacDown, I'm dedicated to redesign more elements of the app.
